Established in 2007, New York City Chess Inc. was founded to provide Chess instruction to individuals of all ages, at schools and institutions through time tested teaching methods by handpicked and trained coaches with a commitment to excellence. New York City Chess Inc's mission is one of inclusion. Its goal is to bring chess services to those who would not otherwise be able to afford the educational advantages of Chess programs that are dedicated to creating an engaging, fun, educational, sporting and positive Chess environment.
Introduction And Chess Development
Students are grouped by age and skill level and will progress along our specialized curriculum. All levels are welcome! Opening with Head Start™ Chess for absolute beginners, students will learn the fundamentals of the game. They will then progress to Advancing in Chess™, where they will learn advanced strategies and planning skills, and finally, to our “Diabolical” Grandmaster Inspired Tactics™, where students will learn from examples of the best of chess history to push their game to greater levels!
Competitive Approach: Team
Early in the school year, we will select 2-3 major scholastic chess events for the P.S. 110 team to participate in with the Team families. Additionally, we’ll encourage participation in our weekly Play N’ Go “Prep-Events” as often as possible. These events are much shorter, more efficient, and focused weekly competitions that allow students to train and build their skills and rating without the time investment required for major events.
We will always promote students as “ready,” and, of course, the same competitive opportunities will be available and encouraged for all students!
Progress in both groups will be measurable and shared with parents, with their permission.
